The Master had only relented because he felt sorry for the boy, he would never make many friends and if he had to make them with animals, he'd happily enable the poor kid.

Which is why he got the shop assistant to fetch out the black cat and pass it along to Koschei. "You like him, Kosch?"

"It's like a ball!" Koschei practically cooed, holding the kitten with a grin. He wasn't about to complain about getting a new pet.

What kid would be stupid enough to do that? He was happy to hold and pet the kitten, hoping dearly that they would get the small thing.

"He's a bit runty and-- oh, well, if you like him," why did they always get the runt? And was it a girl or a boy because he was never sure. But either way, it was an odd looking kitten.

He rolled his eyes and shrugged, offering the store assistant his card. "Can we take this one? And I need a bowl and stuff," he waved his hand in dismissal, hoping the guy could find all that stuff instead of himself.

The store attendant smiled indulgently and assured the Master it would be taken care of before heading off to gather the various items. They still should have brought the car. It would be a pain trying to travel with everything.

Either way, they were soon rung up and ready to go, Koschei holding the kitten he was assured was female. Not that it mattered in terms of names. "'M gonna name her Salem...Or Omen. What do you think?" he asked softly. Yeah...Far too many movies.

"I think naming your cat after a horror film will get us odd looks... but Salem is a good cats name," the Master said as he paid up and looked over all his stuff, he knew he should of brought the car but hey, he wanted to test something.

Dialling up a taxi company, he gave his name and title and they already assured him he'd have a lift back to his house shortly. That was definitely something he could get used too.

Koschei sighed softly as he regarded the other and sighed. Right. He would get accustomed to that as well. It was definitely a shift in their usual life.

"I liked Omen...But Salem is nice. I like that one, too." he murmured, holding up the ball of fluff with a small grin. It was definitely a cute little thing.

"You're taking car of her, you know that, right? Not me, I'm not handling any of it. Bit of responsibility," the Master insisted and it was because it was a good idea to instil some.

Perhaps it would help the boy develop more empathy if he has a close friend as well. "You're in charge of watch Salem and feeding her every day. I have Sigma and you to handle as it is."

Koschei just shot the Master a look. Seriously? Because he didn't know that already? It wasn't exactly hard for him to figure out.

"I know. I can take care of her." he insisted with a shrug. No getting around the fact the Koschei definitely got it.

The Master was just making sure. He gathered up all their stuff and waited at the side of the road till eventually a car pulled up. He tossed his stuff in the boot and gesture for his son to get in.

"Keep a hold of your new cat," the Master instructed as he climbed in after the boy, they hardly needed it becoming road kill already.

Koschei did one better. He simply did up his coat and set the kitten inside, scratching behind her ears as he settled in. This was pleasant enough.

Koschei still couldn't believe he got a kitten. It wasn't something that one came to expect when their parent had been protesting.

The Master was done with pets now, this was the last thing they got and then the boy would have to raise his own money for pets and watch them all himself because the Master was done.

He sat back in the car and shot the boy an amused look. "So you're happy then? Like the cat?"

Koschei hummed softly and smiled. "I like her. She's fluffy an' soft. She's nice." he murmured softly, shrugging a bit. He couldn't say much else.

Why would he have picked a cat out if he didn't like it? "Thank you." he added as an afterthought. He didn't have much else to say.

((Off to bed))

"No problem, I figured you could use a friend and she seems like a good one," the Master said with a small smile, he could of stroked the thing but he didn't fancy it just yet.

He was not a cat person, there was a reason in the back of hiss head but he couldn't fathom what. He just knew cats put him on edge.

{Night~}

Koschei sighed softly and settled back as they rode along. He was definitely content. "I like her...She's funny looking." he admitted.

It looked like somebody zapped her or something. Hopefully she would grow out of that. Otherwise. he might end up with a giant ball of fuzz instead of a cat.

The Master rolled his eyes, the kid had to get the hair ball. He'd have cat hair all over his house and it was bad enough that Sigma shed his coat all year round. It was all very annoying.

He'd never be free of all the pet hairs it seemed. "Yes, well we definitely got a unique one, that's for sure."

"She's small an' unique." he murmured. Just like him. Perhaps that was why Koschei was drawn to the oddballs where animals were concerned.

When they pulled up to the house, Koschei got out and hesitated, glancing back tothe Master in worry. "What about Sigma?"

"He's a relaxed dog and he never chase cats, he doesn't seem to mind them. He didn't mind the rat or Johns pet," the mutt was actually a very social little animal after all.

He liked to network around and make friends with all the other animals, it was rather endearing actually. "I'm sure he would mind that much."

Koschei nodded and headed inside. He wasn't so willing to let Salem down as Sigma bounced about and jumped on him. The poor thing had doubled in size as her hair stood on end.

"I don't think that Salem is happy." Koschei murmured. Not by any fault of their dog.

Sigma was leaping around, something new and exciting was here and he wanted to play. The Master had to pick the dog up and that was no easy job any more, Sigma was still liftable but heavier.

It was lucky he was not a big dog or that might of made it awkward. "Sorry, Sigma wants to play. Maybe you should take your cat upstairs to get settled while I handle this beast."

Koschei nodded and headed to his room to do just that. The poor thing wasn't sure what to do with itself. Koschei could sympathize.

He got her settled and then settled in himself, content enough for the time being to play with his new pet. She was definitely cute enough.

The Master took the dog for a run around in the garden for a while and gave the dog his dinner before he headed upstairs to see how the kitten was doing and if he was okay.

"How's the kitten?" the Master asked as he entered, keeping a safe distance from the cat.

The kid hummed softly and shrugged. "She's fine. See?" he offered, playing with a stuffed mouse as she chased after the object.

"I like her. She's soft and cute." he assured lightly. Koschei was far from complaining.

"Good, good," the Master said, not moving any further into the from cause cats did nothing much for him and he didn't have much interest in her but he was happy that his son was happy.

"You'll have to fed her around 5, I brought the food and a bowl," the Master assured, someone had brought it in for them too.

"I will." Koschei was quick to assure. That was simple enough and he didn't mind. He liked having somethinf to care for.

"Want to let her? She's really soft." Koschei assured, pulling Salem into his lap with a grin.

"Erm, sure," the Master shrugged and moved closer to the boys bed, sitting on the edge of it and giving the cat a tentative pet, she was a rather lovely cat and she didn't scratch so that was handy.

Still, he preferred dogs, they were less aloof and indifferent. Too much like himself to be comfortable with it, he always needed a counter-action. "She's lovely, huh?"
